KHAMSIN

Formed in 1996 by saxophonist Mitsuhiro Furuya, the group began as a jazz band centered around his leadership.

In 2017, pianist Yuka Yanagihara and bassist Nobumasa Shiraishi joined, expanding the ensemble to a five-piece lineup.

In 2023, the band performed at the Detroit Jazz Festival, earning an enthusiastic reception.

After Furuya’s sudden passing in 2024, drummer Hiroshi “GORI” Matsuda took over as leader and continued the group’s activities.

Their 2025 concert in Singapore received high praise, with a full house and a standing ovation from the audience.
